Spectrum Radio joined force with City Showcase Music Festival and Shorty Productions in June 2007 to present an evening of spectacular sound and creativity. The Chinese Showcase opens up opportunities for emerging musical talents from those of East Asian heritage and gives an insight into what they have to offer in today’s ever musically aspired industry. Joseph Wu checks out the CV of one of the featured artists - Kevin Quan

Kevin Quan (Singer/Songwriter/Keyboards)

At the age of 11 Kevin started training as a classical pianist which built the foundation to much of his music ability today. With influences such as Beethoven, Stevie Wonder, George Michael, Grasshopper, Jay Chou, Nirvana, Timberland. Linkin Park, Neptunes, Massive Attack, Radiohead, D’Angelo and Sade (to name a few), his passion for exploring different aspects of music became more than just an interest.

Currently working the DJ circuit playing a fusion of R&B/Hip Hop/House/Trance/Drum & Bass in regular events across the U.K helping to understand how music effect moods and feelings.

Through DJing Kevin meets other DJs and musicians alike, inspiring new skills and ideas, eventually leading him to producing his own tracks.

Kevin feels that producing alone doesn't allow him to fully express himself and starts creating and experimenting with original melodies. Initially the songs were written for other performers but desperate to hear how the songs would turn out with vocals, he started sing the songs himself.

Kevin discovered that singing now meant a lot more to him than he previously thought and is currently working to develop both his writing and singing skills.
